| All the hard work that Eva Longoria has done with her pet charity project, Padres Contre El Cancer, has earned the Desperate Housewives actress the title of The Hollywood Reporter's Philanthropist of the Year award. To receive her award, handed to her by Los Angeles mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, Eva wore a bright, red, silk, asymmetrical gown that had one sleeve that looked like a bunch of flowers trailing up her arm. According to the CEO of Padres, Elvia Barboa, the title is accurate. Barboa tells THR, "People ask me if she's just a figurehead. In no way is she that...Eva fell in love with our mission. She's not doing this for fame. She's doing it because she's compassionate." Eva's good buddy, Mario Lopez, was also on hand to support Eva, as well as her castmate, Dana Delaney. Sheryl Crow, Holly Robinson Peete and Kate Beckinsale also turned up to the event, looking sleek and ready to celebrate. |

'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria Parker has been named the philanthropist of the year by 'Hollywood Reporter' magazine for her dedication to social causes. The 34-year-old star who was born to poor Mexican immigrants was chosen because of her dedication to give back to her community, said the magazine's publisher Eric Mika, the magazine reported online. "I've never met a more conscientious and socially aware young, energetic talent. She pours her free time and energy into raising millions of dollars for charitable missions that make a difference in the Latino community and other humanitarian organisations," said Mika. The actress who is married to basketball player Tony Parker, founded 'Eva's Heroes', a charity in her home town of San Antonio, Texas, which provides an after-school programme for children with developmental disabilities. The actress is also a spokeswoman for 'Parents Against Cancer', which aims to improve the lives of families of Latino children with cancer. |

Eva Longoria Parker has claimed a year's supply of M and Ms after complaining about the lack of peanuts in her favourite candy. The Desperate Housewives star was upset when her sweet treat at the cinema wasn't up to par - and so she complained to M and M bosses. The 'frugal' actress explains, 'There was no peanuts in this particular bag, in the chocolate, and so I called the number on the back of the packet when I got home and then they sent me a year's supply of M and Ms. 'They were very nice.' |

Eva Longoria covers Miami Magazine this month, and as usual, she looks gorgeous. We love the hair! And we love the styling. In the interview, Eva gave a very poignant and funny quotation about her hard work and her career: "I'd go in on 100 auditions and get one callback. Not a job. Just a callback. But I have really tough skin, and you have to be resilient in this business. So I did extra work for two years just so I could be on set. I know people who come to Hollywood and say 'I don't want to be an extra, I want to be a star.' No no no. That's never handed to you…. Even now that I'm on Housewives, it's not like the roles are pouring in. You're constantly struggling until the end of your career. There are still so many things that I want to do…. Yes, I'm already famous, but nowadays that's so easy to achieve. Jon Gosselin is weirdly considered famous and he has done nothing but father children. I don't just want to be famous. I want to be great." Ha! We love her sense of humor and her solid work ethic! And we love that she wants to successful, not just famous. Work it, girl! |
