Eva Longoria Parker beamed on the red carpet for The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Eva was joined by other influential leading ladies including Halle Berry, Hilary Swank, and Nicole Sullivan. “It’s exciting and I love this event because it really recognizes the contributions that women have made in the industry and I really feel like women in entertainment make it go round,” Eva tells OK! about the honor of the event. “I mean I don’t think anything would be possible without those powerful women like Sherry Lansing, Halle Berry, and Hilary Swank,” she continues. Eva was named Philanthropist of the Year by The Hollywood Reporter for her work in founding Eva’s Heroes, a nonprofit in her hometown of San Antonio, T.X., which provides an after-school program for individuals with developmental disabilities. “For me, growing up all of my role models were women and that’s where I get my inspiration from and that’s where I get my motivation from so it was really fitting to get Philanthropist of the Year Award here at this breakfast because I am so inspired by women.” As for her own education, Eva has decided to go back to school! “I have to go inside because I have a final today,” she tells reporters at the event. “I do a lot of advocacy for the Latino community so I wanted to learn more about our particular history in American so I am getting my Master’s in Chicano Studies.”
Eva Longoria proved she is not just a Desperate Housewife as she took her successful restaurant brand to Las Vegas this week. The actress has opened up a brand new branch of Beso in the gambling capital after launching the eatery in Hollywood last year. On Thursday she attended the opening of the venue at Crystals in Vegas's CityCenter retail and entertainment district. Eva dressed to impress for the occasion and looked stunning in a plunging gold dress and peep-toe heels. She runs the business with celebrity chef Todd English, with the restaurant taking a Latin approach to the classic Steakhouse cuisine, complete with an eccletic and contemporary dinner menu. The launch of her new restaurant coincided with the grand opening of the Crystals shopping centre within the huge CityCentre complex.
Forget a sweet tooth. Eva Longoria Parker's cravings run south of the border. "Anytime there is Mexican food around, you can bet I’ll be eating it," she told PEOPLE last Thursday at the opening of her restaurant Beso inside Las Vegas's new CityCenter complex. I'm not a chocolate person and I’m not into sweets. I'm a meal [person]." A self-confessed "foodie," Longoria Parker, 34, said one of the main reasons she and husband, NBA star Tony Parker, go to Sin City is for the cuisine. Now she has her own Vegas restaurant to satisfy her cravings. "For me to actually stand side by side with Wolfgang Puck in the same arena is a little mind blowing," she said of her 6,000 square-foot eatery. The Desperate Housewives actress said she was heavily involved in the construction of her Latin steakhouse and adjoining nightclub, Eve. "I’ve been in Vegas every week," she said, adding that she had her hand in every aspect of Beso, from the dιcor, to the employee uniforms and recipes. "I’m a control freak, that’s why I’m involved," she said.
